l'ultimo weekend sono stato in svizzera a fare belle salite (e belle discese) con amici. Premetto che peso 83 Kg e ho un impianto frenante fatto da dischi ashima airotor 185 davanti 160 dietro con pastiglie ashima sos.
Beh, spesso si sono surriscaldati, puzzavano e le leve mia andavano a fondo corsa (ovvero olio in ebollizione) mentre i miei compagni (+leggeri di peso e con disci di serie + pesanti) non hanno avuto problemi.
L'impianto ashima frena bene, ma il problema e' il SURRISCALDAMENTO; visto che i dischi pesano poco, a parita' di frenata si scaldano di piu' :(
Allora ho scritto ad ashima consigliando di mettere uno strato di materiale isolante sul dorso della pastiglia.

Thanks for using Ashima products both the SOS and AiRoTor.
You are quite right the lightness of the AiRoTor does mean that it tends to heat up quick, which also means it cools quickly..but this does mean the pad have to operate at a higher temperature.
Your suggestion to use a thermal insert in the pads is actually very interesting as we are doing just that but on sintered pads, called Iso-Therm. This come on the back of our PCB which uses rubber diaphragms in place of pistons and as such we need to protect them from the heat. The material we found is fantastic it's lighter than Alu can operate at 1100degc and ahs the thermal conduction of air!
We actually initially tried this with SOS pad on the PCB, but the thermal shields are so good and coupled with the fact the SOS pads also limit heat transfer meant that pad operating temperature become too high which is why we don't now use these shields with Sintered pads.
The product is still in the testing phase so if you'd like some to test please advise.
