Italy was partly represented at the Norwegian championships:

This was the second SSNM, held in Trondheim on a partly technical, partly smooth track of 1650 meters. The 15 riders started Le Mans style and rode for one hour plus one lap. The leader passed the finish line just some seconds before the hour so he (and everyone else) had to ride one more lap before the bell and then the final extra lap. Most of us did 10 or 9 laps.

Apart from the race on saturday we did a city cruise on friday night:

On saturday afternoon, after the race we had a nice ride along the river trail (old hydro power station in the background):

Saturday evening was spent with the prize ceremony at the top of the TV tower, in the rotating restaurant with a view of half of Norway (Scandinavian night outside, at around 22.00):

And on sunday we had a nice technical ride in the Byåsen mountain:

The 2008 Norwegian champion was local man (and part organizer) Henrik Grytbakk. Everyone agreed that the event had been a complete success and we are sure there will be a third SSNM next year. Everyone is welcome!

The 2006 world champ wasn't there unfortunately (or fortunately for everyone who wanted to win perhaps).

Eurochamps in Norway (in Oslo for easy access from mainland Europe) in 2010 is a good idea. A nice race course, good cruising and fabulous trails should be easy to fix. And in the end of May, southern Scandinavia is often hit by a heat wave with good weather. The only thing we're a bit concerned with is that eating and sleeping is so expensive in Norway. A pizza and a beer can easily cost €25. But if you can live with that, I think we would be able to pull off a nice championship. :)

We'll drive up with food from Italy and we'll arrange a huge pasta party don't worry! LOL
