THE NEXT PORTUGALBIKE TOUR

The next PortugalBike Tour is called "The Sea and Mystical Sintra". This beautiful tour begins in March 12th, and ends in March 18th. This tour lasts 7 days and we will ride 185km (115mi).
In the region of Portugal called "Lisbon and Tagus Valley", this tour begins in Lisbon (Sunday), where we will have the opportunity of riding down town of Lisbon and visiting its Castle and also the ancient quarters like Alfama and Bairro Alto. You can see images of this in our site. We will also ride in the biggest Park in the city of Lisbon - Monsanto - which can be considered the lungs of the city.
This tour is rated level 4 (from 1 to 5) regarding its difficulty because most of it takes place in the mountainous Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais, where we will have the opportunity of visiting the Moorish Castle dated from 12th century, as well as the ancient and spectacular palaces of Sintra. Sintra Hills is a beautiful place, with luxuriant and exotic vegetation making it a very romantic and mystical environment.

Riding a mountain bike in this Natural Park with PortugalBike you will have the opportunity of enjoying the best single trails in this Natural Park and to discover contrasting landscapes in this tourist region of Portugal (Lisbon and Tagus Valley). Admire rural plains, luxuriant vegetation, the coast and its slopes and cliffs!
After riding through the ancient quarters of Lisbon we will ride from Mafra Convent towards the sea visiting the beautiful beaches along the way. We will get to the westernmost point in Continental Europe (Cape Roca - Lat: 38º47' N - Long: 9º30' W - Alt: 140m) "Where the Land ends and the Sea begins", where there still reigns the spirit of Faith and Adventure which took the Portuguese caravels in search of new worlds for the World.
Then we will climb to the majestic Sintra Hills, which was called Moon Hill by the Romans. The rough trails are sometimes a challenge to our balance and physical ability and we always can count on a lot of adrenaline. After a resting day to visit the many beautiful palaces and the Moorish castle included in this Natural Park, we will ride down other single and rough trails that are also challenging and technical to get to the famous and cosmopolitan towns of Cascais and Estoril in the coast.
