(comunicato stampa) - The longest Descent in the World, firstly its figures with 1,200 Pros & Amateurs who will come rushing down during several days from both tops which are going to be start places, Dôme des Rousses ( 2,800 m) and Pic Blanc (3,300 m).
It is also a negative difference of level record with 2,700 m of descent along 20 km for MEGAVALANCHE race, but it is also magic of clump, trails and single tracks that riders will discover all the week.
French speciality … probably, Marathon Down Hill counts today many favourite riders from many different nationalities, this way Alpe d’Huez will welcome competitors come from 15 nationalities. After French, Great Britain will be the second nation represented, third Germany then Spain with Tomi MISSER (Guak – Commencal) leader of Europe Cup DH Marathon, some riders from Switzerland strong with their quadruple winner of MEGAVALANCHE and considered like the Best riders in the world in this discipline René WILDHABER (Scott), and even the Best Peruvian with Felipe RIOS who is coming like a “VIP” thanks his performance last March during MEGAVALANCHE in Cusco.
Track preparation, like each year, is really important in order to offer much more pleasure, respect of sportsmanship and security. This way technical committee will open in 2006 for the first time a new section just after Cristalière patch, offering new possibilities to all riders who want to highlight their technical skills into a wonderful sets.

On Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th of July, it will take place SPRINT AVALANCHE on the famous descent stadium of Oz en Oisans.
600 m drop that Pierre Charles GEORGE (Alvarez Racing Team) had done in less than 5 minutes last year, impressive obstacles, a trail just made for rides who like strong sensations.
SPRINT AVALANCHE in Oz will be the 2nd stage of the serie after Lyon. Fabien COUSINIE (Ayton – Giant) winner of the last French Cup is the favourite.
Also MOM AVALANCHE, open to all kids between 9 to 14 yo who just gonna ride on a part of the SPRINT AVALANCHE trail.

Gee ATHERTON (Giant – Animal), who just won the title of Down Hill Europe Champion last week end in Italy and who is among the top 5 of DH World Cup 2006, has just signed up for MEGAVALANCHE week in Alpe d’Huez.
He is going to discover with his brother Dan and 2 top British juniors Marcus WILLIAMS and Daryll UPTON, the fantastic down hill stadium of SPRINT AVALANCHE in Oz en Oisans, Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th.
There is No doubt that he is going to try to confirm his performance that he get in MEGAVALANCHE Peru in 2005 (3rd ) and above all he will have one’s heart set on doing better than René WILDHABER, Tomi MISSER (Guak Commencal) and all French specialist of DH MARATHON in their field.
Strong with its 200 riders, British delegation and his Champion show their ambitions to steal many podiums during the last week of July.
